Turkey passed a law ratifying the cooperation agreement on the Lapis
Lazuli route
Turkey passed
a law ratifying the Agreement on Transit and Transport Cooperation along the
Lapis - Lazuli Route. This law is published today in the Turkish edition of Resmi
Gazete.
The
five-party Lapis-Lazuli Transport Corridor Agreement, referred to as
"Lazurit," was signed in 2017 between Azerbaijan, Afghanistan,
Georgia, Turkmenistan and Turkey at the 7th Conference of Regional Economic
Cooperation on Afghanistan (RECCA VII). This project will not only link
Afghanistan with Europe and other countries, but will also create an
opportunity for further growth of trade, transit and investment for all member
countries.
According to
the project, the network of road, rail, sea and air services will connect the
Afghan cities of Akina and Turgundi, Ashgabat and the port of Turkmenbashi inTurkmenistan, the capital of Azerbaijan, the cities of Tbilisi, Poti and Batumi
in Georgia and Istanbul in Turkey with further access to Europe.
